i agree with manson from a worldly view, we are used and thrown away like we were nothing but there is salvation regardless of how he feels. its kind of sad how his opinion has reached this point, god is actually so forgiving bin ladin could repent then enter heaven, he sees each sinner as the same. i reckon the meaning of "your world is an ashtray, we burn and coil like cigarettes, the more you cry your ashes turn to mud" is, your world isn't as great as you think, the people inside it live and die never to live again, the more you whinge about it, the more you become like mud and therefore, the more people want to be rid of you.

Although you may try you will never be able to say the true meanings behind Manson's music.. like all the rest.. music is the most personal thing you can get.. you loose youself in the lyrics and reveal a side that is burried.. (unless its hip hop/r n b or pop).. so although i do it as well.. you'll really have to ask Manson himself.. and if you get the chance TAKE ME!!

hey harris, i think the opening lyrics refer to our temporary and almost pointless existence. he is saying that our world is an ashtray, and we are all cigarettes wasting away. although i'm not quite sure what the last bit is "the more you cry your ashes turn to mud" fucking good song though. oh and kira, he may not be a satanist but he still believes he is his own god.

Harris666, Marilyn Manson actually isn't a satanist, he just acts like he is at his shows (because it's what people expect i suposse) and people say he is because of his lyrics, but he doesn't follow the religion, read the autobiography! :P .. oh & this song rocks!!!!! along with all his others!!!!!

This song is done in his harsh voice because of the harsh nature of the lyrics.
Americans might know of a guy named Kip Kinkel? well he did a school shooting. He had this song written on his wall in his bedroom. The cops thought he was insane because of the repeating lyrics "no salvation, no forgiveness". Manson was partly blamed for that incident also as columbine.
The lyrics "i went to god just to see and i was looking at me" refers to his beliefs. Manson is a satanists and satanists believe that the highest thing in your own mind should be yourself, so you are the god. no one else should be higher. no its no ego but self awareness. manson is known as the black pope for you who dont know. and the satanic priest/minister (i forget) refers to manson as revourend. (if thats how it is spelt.)
